SIP ON THIS…..
Let us know what you are sipping on these days. Everyone wants to know what Bartenders drink when they treat themselves to a night on the other side of the bar!
Give it to us straight, what’s your order and where do you go to get it your way?

Just this past weekend I went to Water Lounge in Oakland and had Jason make me the following:
Dual Overhead Cam
1 1/2 oz rye
1/2 oz Pimm’s No. 1
1/2 oz Benedictine
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
Mix, shake and strain into cocktail glass. 1 Marasca cherry garnish.
We all thought it was a homerun!
tonight i made the following – which i call “the OBAMA cocktail”:
1 oz Orange juice
1 1/2 oz Bourbon (i used Blanton’s)
1/2 oz Aperol
pinch of Mint
1/2 oz Antica
muddle mint with orange juice. Add rest of ingredients. Either shake with ice and strain into cocktail glass or pour all ingredients into a glass of ice.
this is a little bit like a mint julep combined with a mojito combined with a manhattan.
barteneders are more likely to appreciate the classics. aviations, blood & sands, rye old fashions, pisco sours genever and gin make it onto my table more often then not nowadays. my girlfriend HATES most everything i order and says I drink medicine.
; )
Very possibly my favorite go-to cocktail, about as old as they come:
Japanese Cocktail
2 oz VSOP Brandy
1/2 oz Orgeat syrup
1/4 oz fresh Lime juice
2 dashes: Angostura (or 3 dashes Boker’s)
Combine in a mixing glass & shake with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass & garnish with a twist of fresh Lime.
